I wanted to find a Quad Mix in Jimi Hendrix: Electric Ladyland and am now dumbfounded!
What did I find?
Electric Ladyland was mastered in surround.How do I know this?
I remastered it in DTS, which is a surround sound format, using tools that I have bought over the years...Adobe Audition 3 and surcode and the actual Electric Ladyland Stereo CD.OK come on how do you really know this?
Well at first when I played the ReQuad it sounded like Super Stereo with Quad effects built in..I kept looking for Quad Surround and was dumbfounded that when I stood about a foot from the mixing console "front" it all came out in surround Quad!!!!What did it sound like?
...And The Gods Made Love: has the surround effects of traveling through a wormhole...but only standing where the original mastering was done, at the console right by the front speakers!!! There is zero surround and stereo at the back speaker listening perspective and I originally was disappointed with the difference between headphone and DTS through my stereo, but it's all fine now...it feels like sitting at a console mixing the album..it's an amazing sound!Warning
